In Thai when they say letters, it is not the sam eas in English. In English we would say A, B, C etc. Whereas, in Thai, they would say A apple, B boy, C Cap. It is the same when you spell a word in that. Imagine you had to spell the English word cat the same way. You would have to say C cap, A apple, T tree. You cannot just say C A T.
Therefore, each letter in thai has its own word that it is connected to, and you need to learn them both together.
