In Thai when they say letters, it is not the sam eas in English. In English we would say A, B, C etc. Whereas, in Thai, they would say A apple, B boy, C Cap. It is the same when you spell a word in that. Imagine you had to spell the English word cat the same way. You would have to say C cap, A apple, T tree. You cannot just say C A T.

Therefore, each letter in thai has its own word that it is connected to, and you need to learn them both together.

Mid-Class Consonants

Letter	Sound	Meaning
gor gai	G	chicken (gài)

The G sound is pronounced the same and the G sound in get in English.

Letter	Sound	Meaning
Jor jaan	J	plate (jaan)

The J sound is pronounced the same as J in English.

Letter	Sound	Meaning
dɔɔ dèk	D	child (dèk)

The D sound is pronounced the same as D in English.

Letter	Sound	Meaning
dor chádaa	D	headdress (chádaa)

This is the D sound as dɔɔ dèk and is pronounced the same as D in English.

This letter is not used frequently.

dtor dtàu	Dt	turtle (dtàu)

This is the Dt sound is not a sound that we have in English.

To make this sound, push your tongue flat behind your upper teeth. It will sound like something between a T and a D

dtor bpa-dtàk	Dt	spear (bpa-dtàk)

This Dt sound is the same as the Dt sound in dtor dtàu.

This letter is not used frequently.

This B sound is the same as the B sound in English.

This Bp sound is a sound that we do not have in English.

To make this sound press your lips together as though you are going to say the letter P, but instead say the letter B. It should sound somewhere between a B & P.
